Norbert Schwer, MD, FACS

Medical Director

With more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Norbert Schwer is a board-certified surgeon who can serve all his patients' needs, whether it be a simple surgical intervention or a complex procedure requiring the latest medical techniques. Dr. Schwer has received training in general and vascular surgery, allowing him to perform a wide range of surgical procedures. In addition, this dedicated physician is uniquely qualified to diagnose problems and recommend the most appropriate therapy, which may or may not include surgery. Instead, he may prescribe preventive steps to help patients maintain a healthy, active lifestyle without surgical intervention. If surgery is needed, Dr. Schwer incorporates the most advanced approaches available, such as laparoscopy and endoscopy, to help improve outcomes and reduce recovery times for his patients.

Dr. Schwer completed his undergraduate studies at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich., and the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif., and completed his internship and residency at Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Mich. After practicing surgery in Minnesota for five years, Dr. Schwer joined Gerig Surgical Associates, P.C., which serves Indiana University Health Goshen and specializes in minimally invasive surgery of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, vascular system and endocrine system, as well as wounds.
