Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The latest and most effective treatment for non-healing wounds.
Our new, state-of-the art facility is equipped with two hyperbaric oxygen chambers, serving as a benchmark for high standards and exceptional care. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a procedure in which a patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while relaxing in a pressurized chamber. This treatment delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the blood stream, rapidly accelerating wound healing. Studies have shown that specialized wound care and HBOT reduce amputation rates and help to avoid hospitalization.
HBOT is used as an adjunctive treatment for non-healing wounds that meet specific criteria. HBOT effectively treats crush injuries, osteomyelitis, skin grafts and flaps, brown recluse spider bites and diabetic wounds of the lower extremity. With this type of treatment, we can now heal the most difficult non-healing wounds once thought untreatable.
Indiana University Health Goshen Wound Center has received full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). This accreditation indicates the highest industry standards and best practices in hyperbaric treatment. To receive this honor, a survey team evaluated the quality of the facility and equipment, the professionalism of the staff and their level of training. The quality of care and patient safety measures were also evaluated to ensure that the highest standards of care were maintained at our facility.
